Based on an extensive network of professional translators, Translation Hub provides customized language services to businesses and individuals, ranging from translation and editing/proofreading to localization and career consulting (personalized CVs and cover letters, language polishing, etc.).
Translation is the cornerstone of our language services. Our translators are committed to transferring the meaning of your text to the target language, in line with its specificities and objectives. For example, when your translation is to be published in a scientific journal, the author-guidelines of the publisher will be taken into consideration. If your text is journalistic, we make sure that all readers will be able to comprehend it. In case of student projects and assignments, we take into account the academic requirements concerning citation styles (Harvard, APA, MLA, etc.), plagiarism, formatting, and so on.
We translate technical, medical, legal and EU-related, marketing and journalistic texts.
CV & Cover Letter
The labour market is a harsh world where competition is fierce and each advertised position is likely to attract hundreds or even thousands of applications. Putting ourselves in the shoes of the employer, it is easy to comprehend how much time is needed to go through all applications. It is reasonable to assume that most CVs will be examined in just a few minutes or seconds, thus diminishing the chances of each applicant.
Therefore, if you wish to make your CV stand out and increase your chances, leave it to the experts. We also undertake to write your cover letter and prepare you for the crucial stage of the interview, which is an integral part of every selection process.
Official translation refers to the translation of documents submitted to public organisations like universities, regional and local authorities, ministries, etc. Your translated documents are certified either by translators who have graduated from the Ionian University (Department of Foreign Languages, Translation and Interpreting, Presidential Decree 169) or by a lawyer-linguist.
Subtitling & Localisation of Websites
and Marketing Material
Subtitling is a form of audiovisual translation used in TV series, movies, video games and all kinds of videos (interviews, speeches, etc.). It is the preferred type of translation in many countries—including Greece—while other countries employ dubbing or voice-over. On the one hand, subtitling is significantly cheaper than other methods. On the other hand, it is subject to spatio-temporal constraints that make it a special kind of translation that entails numerous techniques (adaptation, borrowing, compensation, reformulation, etc.). In other words, what we see on our screen is not the verbatim translation of speakers’ words, but rather their meaning. Despite the widespread perception that it is a simple and easy process which can be carried out by anyone, subtitling is a very demanding and time-consuming type of translation.
Localisation of websites and marketing material is aimed at presenting our texts in a way that is meaningful in the target language. It does not suffice to translate the original words, but instead we must choose specific words that create the same feelings and thoughts, the same need that will eventually make recipients want to consume the offered product or service.
